JUST IN: Newcastle united are mount with pressure from club over their key star

Alexander Isak is wanted by Barcelona from Newcastle United.

Alexander Isak, a Swedish attacker, is supposedly wanted by Barcelona to return to La Liga.
The 23-year-old joined Newcastle United from Real Sociedad in August 2022, and he made 29 appearances for the Magpies during the 2022–23 season, contributing three assists and 11 goals.

Isak has also had a solid start to the season, scoring twice in four league games to bring his total for Newcastle to 12 goals and three assists in 31 games.

The Swedish international’s contract at St. James’ Park runs through June 2028, and given Newcastle’s financial clout, they are well-positioned to cling onto him.

Fichajes claims that Barcelona is nonetheless committed to bringing the striker to Camp Nou soon, perhaps as a long-term replacement for Robert Lewandowski.

According to the rumor, Isak, who began his professional career with AIK before switching to Borussia Dortmund in 2017, is greatly admired by Catalan team manager Xavi.

The forward struggled at Dortmund, scoring only once in 13 starts for the first team, but he dominated at Real Sociedad, scoring 44 goals and dishing out eight assists in 132 games across all competitions.

Isak scored 33 goals in 105 La Liga games.

Although the 35-year-old’s contract at Camp Nou runs until June 2026 and has an additional 12-month option, he is entering the latter stages of his career.

Over the summer, Lewandowski’s name was associated with a move to Saudi Arabia, but the Polish international has claimed he never thought about leaving Barcelona.

Lewandowski told AS, “I don’t even think about it. I’m very content in Barcelona, with my family, the team, and the city. I am content as a human.

“The concept of MLS was firmly planted in my mind prior to the coronavirus pandemic, but I mysteriously changed my mind afterwards. It’s difficult to fathom visiting there after the Barcelona chapter.

Lewandowski contributed two assists and one goal during Barcelona’s 5-0 victory over Real.
