AC Milan U19 won 4-0. Newcastle United U19: Magpies are greeted harshly in Europe, but positives emerge
Three early goals and sweltering weather undid Newcastle United’s youth team against AC Milan.
Newcastle United’s under-19s were thrashed 4-0 by AC Milan’s under-19s on Tuesday afternoon, their first game in Europe.
The match at the Centro Sportivo Vismara served as a prelude to the main event, which took place just seven miles north at the San Siro. However, this was a terrific opportunity for Newcastle’s youthful recruits to enjoy their first European away day.
Three AC Milan goals before the half-hour mark, on the other hand, meant the writing was on the wall for the visitors.
A slow start to the game resulted in no notable chances for either side in the first 15 minutes before AC Milan quickly got the ball moving. After a failed Newcastle attack, head coach Dawson said, “You’ve got to find another gear.” Milan took the lead less than 60 seconds later thanks to Chaka Traore.
A minute later, Francesco Camarda, Milan’s excellent number nine, was fouled in the penalty area, making the task twice as difficult. The youthful forward scored from the penalty and then added another goal minutes later to make it 3-0.
At that point, it appeared that a cricket score was on the way. Newcastle, on the other hand, endured the storm with Dawson yelling directions to his children the entire time.
Travis Hernes, Newcastle’s deadline-day acquisition, also saw action and had some good moments with the ball. Captain Jamie Miley, like his brother Lewis, had wisdom above his years.
