SKYSPORT: His services are no longer needed “Coventry city confirms key star exit”

The two Coventry City players are already anticipating a tumultuous January.

FLW have chosen two Coventry City players to face a month of speculation.

Coventry City entered the 2017 Championship season with high expectations, having made it all the way to the play-off final before succumbing at the final hurdle last season.

The club’s intentions for the new season were derailed early in the summer when it became clear that striker Viktor Gyokeres would be leaving.

His departure was followed by Gustavo Hamer’s surprise departure to Sheffield United, meaning Mark Robins lost two of his top players in the same transfer window.

The team has worked hard to replace Hamer and Gyokeres, but more players could leave when the winter window opens.

So, with that in mind, we at Football League World have chosen two Coventry City players who are already facing a month of speculation…

Simon Moore

The goalkeeping department was one area that Coventry improved during the summer transfer window.

They already had Ben Wilson, who took over as number one in the 2022/23 season, and Simon Moore, who played for the Sky Blues in the 2021/22 season.

Moore lost his starting job last season and was playing second fiddle to Wilson, but the goalkeeping situations changed again this summer.

Moore has dropped from second to third choice since the arrival of Brad Collins from Coventry.

He has yet to play for the team this season, with his single outing coming as a substitute in the Carabao Cup.

Moore’s contract expires at the end of the season, and while it’s easy to assume he’ll stay with the club for the rest of the season, he could be looking to leave in January.

He’ll still believe he has a lot to give, and after being a regular not long ago, he’ll undoubtedly feel cheated that he’s now a third choice.

Given his contract situation and the fact that he isn’t playing, he might be a player looking for a move in January, as well as a goalie that clubs throughout the EFL are interested in.

Jake Bidwell

Left-back Jake Bidwell is the second Coventry City player who could face a tumultuous January transfer window.

Bidwell joined the Sky Blues in January 2022 and has been a regular ever since, save for this season.

Coventry signed Jay Dasilva in the summer, giving Bidwell new competition in the left-back position.

The 30-year-old appears to have lost his starting spot, with his only appearances in the Championship coming from the bench.

Despite Dasilva’s arrival, it was reported in the summer that Coventry were considering bringing in another left-back.

This meant that Coventry was willing to let Bidwell go for the right price. So, with him losing his starting role, he could be a player Coventry looks to offload in January in order to bring in a replacement.

He is a seasoned defender at this level, and if teams were aware of his availability, he could be seriously considered by a number of Championship teams in January.
