He’s Fast – Sunderland U21s Assistant Impressed With Player
Sunderland Under-21s assistant manager John Hewitson has remarked that Nazariy Rusyn, the Black Cats’ new signing, has great pace.
The Black Cats signed the 24-year-old centre forward from Zorya Lugansk on the final day of the summer transfer window to bolster their offensive department.
On Monday, Rusyn played for Graeme Murty’s Under-21s against Derby County in a Premier League 2 Division match, where the Ukrainian assisted and won a penalty to help Sunderland win 3-1.
Hewitson claimed that Rusyn is unlike any other player in the Sunderland squad and that the center striker is genuinely swift.
Rusyn is determined to achieve well for Sunderland, according to the Under-21 assistant manager, who also disclosed that the player is still lacking physically despite only joining the team a few weeks ago.
“He’s different from what we’ve had; he’s got genuine pace,” Hewitson said, according to Chronicle Live.
“He wants to do well, he wants to work extremely hard, but he is slightly physically behind the other lads because he has only trained with us for the last couple of weeks, so it will take time to get him up to speed,” Tony Mowbray said. Rusyn made his debut against Cardiff City at the Stadium of Light on Saturday, coming off the bench in the 88th minute.
