Joey Barton has maintained his passion for Newcastle since leaving the team, and today he posted on social media in the manner of a genuine supporter.

Few people anticipated the Magpies’ 4-1 victory tonight, but Joey Barton had a good feeling and wrote on Twitter: “PSG are playing uphill 2nd half. (In a figurative and metaphorical sense) @NUFC downhill to the Gallowgate. In this situation, the Toon might give these players a good pumping, especially if these PSG front men don’t track back.

Joey Barton was obviously delighted to see Elliott.

There is no denying Barton’s affection for Newcastle.
At that point, Barton re-posted the tweet from Newcastle’s official account honoring Fabian Schar’s thunderous goal that made the final score 4-1 and added, “What a night! The situation for The Toon Army could not have been better. I’m excited to see those CL nights returning to St. James’.”

Barton tweeting about the Toon with such affection is wonderful to watch. He was the kind of player you love when he’s on your team and detest when he isn’t. He had some spectacular performances while wearing a black and white shirt, and it’s obvious that those memories have lingered with him.
