JUST IN: On no account should The Saints lose the match with such Opportunity

Saints return home with points, and Watford Women’s manager sees red.

Damon Lathrope, the head coach of Watford Women, was dismissed, and his team lost 2-0 at home to a Southampton squad with just 10 players a minute into the second half.

Watford lost for the third time in a row, dropping them into the Championship’s bottom two.

In the later stages of the second half, Lathrope received two yellow cards, reportedly for comments he made while in his technical area but within earshot of the fourth official, who on both instances brought the referee over.

As Saints kept onto their 1-0 advantage in the second half after central defender Milly Mott was sent off for a clear tug on striker Carly Johns, who had turned her and was breaking into the area, he may have been wondering about some of their attempts to run the clock down.

However, despite having the numerical advantage, referee Ffion Eade added seven minutes of additional time. To be honest, it might have been any amount of time as Watford hardly looked like tying the score.

Southampton’s late breakaway goal to make it 2-0 was somewhat inconsequential because they had already won, and the victory put them at the top of the Championship standings.

Watford simply couldn’t get going. They moved the ball around with ease and assurance in the first two thirds of the field, but once they reached the last third, they appeared to run out of strategies.
Their offensive work was similarly lacking in quality. Too frequently, promising positions were destroyed by a poor last ball or poor judgement.
