JUST IN: Sydney Roosters best man drop a significant massage to Roosters as he exit club

Paul Momirovski of the Sydney Roosters will play in the Super League in 2024 after agreeing to a two-year contract with Leeds Rhinos.

The 27-year-old, who has also previously played for Melbourne Storm and Wests Tigers, won the NRL Grand Final in 2021 with Penrith Panthers. He has spent the past two seasons with Trent Robinson’s Sydney Roosters team. He has a total of 60 first-grade NRL appearances and 26 tries.

Before making a try-scoring first-class debut with the Tri Colors in 2018, the former Australian junior international rose through the Roosters ranks. He then transferred to the Tigers in the ensuing seasons before joining Melbourne Storm in 2020 as part of a loan agreement with Harry Grant. Then he went back to Roosters.

Momirovski stated of joining the Rhinos, “I am pleased to be joining the Rhinos. I knew Rohan Smith and I shared the same views on rugby league as soon as we started talking, and I knew this would be a wonderful fit for me and the next phase of my career. Working with the coaches and players at Leeds will be beneficial to me because I still feel like I have a lot to learn. I’ve had the honor of representing several outstanding NRL teams, and I firmly believe that there is always room for improvement.

Momirovski will join the Rhinos at the beginning of 2024 in time for the start of the new season after getting married in Australia in December.

“Paul is a player I watched coming through the Roosters system as a youngster,” Leeds Rhinos Head Coach Rohan Smith continued. He is a thorough thinker about the game, incredibly skillful, and has superb footwork. He has excellent game awareness and is a strong communicator for whatever team he has played on, especially when it comes to defense.

“He has worked with some of the top modern coaches in the game and has been in a number of strong NRL systems. He has won a Grand Final with Penrith and has been in finals with the Roosters and Melbourne, so he is aware of what it takes to contend for trophies.

Because of his contract for the next season, Smith continued, “Paul was a player we had identified for 2025, so it’s great that we’ve been able to bring him in a year earlier, which is good news for the Rhinos.”

“I would like to thank the Roosters and Paul’s management for helping to make this move go through so smoothly,” continued Leeds Rhinos Chief Executive Gary Hetherington. Everyone gains, in my opinion, by the change.
