THE VERDDICT: Jayson Tatum speech over Boston head coach

JOE MAZZULLA, IN THE VIEW OF JAYSON TATUM, HAS ‘CHANGED THE CULTURE’ AT THE BOSTON CELTICS

Jayson Tatum, who emphasizes that is a “freshness” about the forthcoming season, asserts that the Boston Celtics are in “good shape” heading into the new campaign under head coach Joe Mazzulla. The roster now includes All-Stars Kristaps Porzingis and Jrue Holiday, and assistant coaches Sam Cassell and Charles Lee have joined the coaching staff. The Celtics’ season opener is against the Knicks.

Jayson Tatum asserts that Boston Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla has “changed the culture” and that the squad is in “good shape” going into the upcoming campaign.

In September 2022, Mazzulla took over for Ime Udoka. He won 57 of his 82 games in command before losing the Eastern Conference Finals to the eighth-seeded Miami Heat.

Tatum, however, thinks that the 2017 campaign has a “freshness” to it since the Celtics made wise off-season additions, luring All-Stars Kristaps Porzingis and Jrue Holiday, while adding assistant coaches Sam Cassell and Charles Lee to the coaching staff.

Tatum said that practice had been challenging after Boston defeated the New York Knicks 123-111 in the preseason on Tuesday.
“We’ve been working on it, a couple of twos a day. However, it’s been good.

“We’ve put forth a lot of effort. The first unit has been pushed by the second unit. We have several competing days, so the boys are fired up, in great shape, and have been working all off-season.This season just has a sense of freshness. Everyone seems genuinely pleased and eager to get started because we have a new staff and new players on the team.
Tatum is unmistakably of the opinion that the Celtics, who have been the top team statistically for the past four years and are one of the strong favorites in the Eastern Conference, can only become better under their head coach.
“He [Mazzulla] has helped change the culture a little bit in a lot of ways, honestly,” Tatum concluded.

“Joe has done a wonderful job in kind of taking charge, doing things the way he wants,” a team member said. “I feel like he’s had his mark on how he wants things to be, how he wants to practice, how he wants the environment, the vibe (to be), and we’ve all bought in. He is the coach, so it’s his thing. And seeing that has been pretty nice.
