GOALSCORER After securing a 2-1 victory at Hull City on Saturday with a goal in the 95th minute, Ryan Fraser praised the Saints supporters for their support.

Storm Babet’s mayhem at King’s Cross Station prevented some Southampton fans from attending the game.

Fraser, who came on for Stuart Armstrong at the 84-minute mark, scored Southampton’s winning goal with a shot that beat Ryan Allsop and whipped the crowd into a frenzy.

After the game, the 29-year-old was eager to thank the supporters for helping him win and for making the game possible.

The late winner, according to him, is unmistakably evidence of this team’s resolve and the manager’s efforts to instill confidence in us.

“The supporters give us self-confidence. The guys and everyone at the club appreciate that they came all this far in such bad conditions. That is noticed by many people.

“It makes you feel so much better when you do it for them as well. To be honest, scoring the game-winning goal in the 95th minute in front of those supporters was one of the best experiences of my career.

Southampton has already won three occasions this year on the road, all thanks to goals that were scored in the last minutes.

Fraser acknowledged that he likes the sensation of a comeback victory, but

If you ask me which I would prefer—a late winner or a convincing victory—I’d say the latter in a manner because it offers the fans an added sense of joy.

“We can rejoice together while the guys go over to the fans. Don’t get me wrong, I’d prefer to win games 5-0 for 99 percent of the season, but it simply doesn’t happen in football.

The fact that we are currently on a four-game unbeaten streak gives the guys all a huge confidence boost.

“The outcome in Rotherham wasn’t what we had hoped for, but you have to take it as a learning experience and go on. We are still unbeaten, so you can learn from their mistakes.
