GOOD NEWS: Roosters incredible ace made contract extension

Future major decision for the young gun on the Roosters

The end of 2024 marks the end of his contract.

It is said that the Sydney Roosters are about to sign Siua Wong to a long-term deal.

One of the top young players in the league, Wong, will have his contract expire at the end of 2024 and will be free to sign and negotiate with other teams starting on November 1st of this year. The deadline is quickly approaching.

The Sydney Morning Herald reports that the breakout star, who played for Fiji in the Rugby League World Cup the previous year before making his NRL debut with the Roosters this season, is reportedly close to agreeing to a new two-year contract with the team.

The new two-year contract is expected to include a massive compensation boost, estimated to be in the neighborhood of $425,000 per season, or $850,000 over two years. Wong’s pay is currently almost at the NRL minimum, with a little increase to almost $180,000 in 2024.

Although Wong is said to be eager to reward the Roosters for their faith in him, he probably would have gotten a higher salary on the open market.

At the conclusion of 2023, he became an important member of Trent Robinson’s team, and during this year’s finals series, he was instrumental in a semi-final victory over the Cronulla Sharks.

Wong was supposed to be a target for NRL teams and the rugby union starting in the 2025 season, but he won’t have the opportunity anymore.
