The injured Italy midfielder observed yesterday as the Italian Football Federation informed the press that he will receive a 10-month ban for violations related to betting.

On the morning of the game’s eve, though, Newcastle had not received any confirmation despite a flurry of media surrounding an official declaration, as the situation descended into absurdity.

During his pre-game press conference, Howe stated:
