Main Reason:Newcastle Fantastic Star was sold for just £1.7m is now outscoring

With 13 players missing due to injuries and suspensions, Newcastle United is currently in dire need of improvement ahead of some major fixtures following the international break, which include a massive away match against French champions Paris Saint-Germain in Europe.

He is currently scoring more goals than Callum Wilson and Alexander Isak, a player Newcastle United sold for £1.7 million a few years ago.

Over the previous several weeks, Eddie Howe’s attack has been utterly destroyed, leaving players like Jacob Murphy, Callum Wilson, Harvey Barnes, Alexander Isak, and Miguel Almiron out for the count.

Due to their need to use Anthony Gordon down the middle in a lackluster 2-0 loss away at Bournemouth over the weekend, the Magpies do not currently have a recognized striker who is available or healthy.

The absence of Wilson and Isak has brought attention to Newcastle’s previous missteps in player sales, notably the transfer of a player who is enjoying a fantastic season in the lower league.

The reason Adam Armstrong departed Newcastle
In 2014, Adam Armstrong made his Premier League debut in a 1-0 loss to Fulham after coming through Newcastle United’s academy as a young player and progressing through the ranks at Darsley Park.

But after making 21 appearances and never scoring a goal for his childhood club, the striker was moved to Blackburn Rovers for a meager £1.7 million following four loan stints at Coventry City, Barnsley, Bolton Wanderers, and lastly Blackburn Rovers.

Following a productive stint at Ewood Park, where he scored 64 goals and provided 19 assists in 160 games for the Riversiders, Armstrong signed a contract worth approximately £15 million to join Premier League team Southampton.

The 26-year-old, who is now ranked second in the Championship standings with nine goals from 16 games in the second division, is still putting in big goals even though the Saints were demoted the previous season.

In addition to how hot he has been in front of goal, Armstrong is taking fewer shots this season than his Newcastle United colleagues. In the Championship, he is averaging 2.72 shots per 90, compared to Isak’s 3.11 and Wilson’s 3.53 in the Premier League.

In addition, Armstrong’s shot-on-target percentage is 36.6%, lower than that of Howe’s two attackers, Wilson’s at 63.2% and the Swede at 58.8%. In essence, Southampton’s star is scoring more goals than Newcastle’s forwards while having less shots and fewer on goal.
