Joe Cole Decision, Gareth Southgate has told £42m player to leave after links with Newcastle

Kalvin Phillips is a midfield player that Newcastle United hopes to sign in January, and Joe Cole thinks the player has been encouraged more to pursue a move.

The 27-year-old has been an important member of the England team lately and helped the Three Lions advance to the Euro 2020 final. Now that Euro 2024 is approaching, Phillips desires to take part.

That could be challenging, though, if he isn’t given the opportunity to play at the club level. That’s the predicament he finds himself in at the moment, as Phillips is totally out of favor at Manchester City.

This has sparked rumors that he would depart in January, with Newcastle expressing interest in taking on a loan for the midfield player. And now that they know, their curiosity may grow Ruben Neves, an alternate target, is allegedly nonexistent.

For Phillips, who is supposedly eager to relocate to St. James’ Park, that may be good news.

Joe Cole regarding Kalvin Phillips’ prospects.

On Monday night, England played North Macedonia, and Kalvin Phillips added another cap to his collection. But it came from the bench when, in the closing moments of the 1-1 draw, he took Trent Alexander-Arnold’s place.

Commentator Joe Cole speculates that the absence of Phillips from the starting lineup could be a directive from manager Gareth Southgate for the £42 million player to go play for the team.

Cole stated on Channel 4 that “Kalvin Phillips is not playing.”
