Top Source: Manchester United making the Champions League “more hope second favourites For Newcatle”

The Bhoys’ chances of winning the Europa League appear slim, as Gracenote projects a third-place finish at a mere 3.2% ahead of Tuesday’s away match against Lazio.

Manchester City, the defending champions, are assigned the highest probability of winning it again (29%).

With 19%, Real Madrid is the second favorite, followed by Bayern Munich with 14%. According to the Gracenote index, Arsenal comes in at 7%.

 

Only Manchester City, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Inter Milan, RB Leipzig, and Real Sociedad are guaranteed a position in the round of sixteen with two sets of group stage matches remaining.

Five additional teams are deemed to have a better than 90% probability of winning it all: Arsenal, Barcelona, Napoli, Atletico Madrid, and Porto.

With only one point out of a possible twelve, Celtic is at the bottom of its group and has a two percent chance of moving on to the miracles required stage.

 

Eddie Howe’s club, however, is only three points behind group leaders Borussia Dortmund with four points to their name.

But according to Gracenote, who gives the Toon a pitiful 23% probability of making it to the knockout stages, they are not favorites to advance.

The odds on Dortmund (74%), PSG (70%) and AC Milan (33%), compared to Newcastle (who will need to pull off an unforeseen upset, are all better.

Manchester United is predicted to finish third and miss out on the Europa League with a 34.4% possibility, while Newcastle is predicted to finish with a 26.2% chance.

 

In addition, Newcastle sits at the bottom of a much more difficult group heading into their away match against Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday night.
