Newcastle star appointed as director at boyhood club in preparation for retirement

In an effort to help FC Wil, the team he grew up supporting in Switzerland, where he was born, Fabian Schar has revealed that he has joined the board of directors.

In preparation for his 32nd birthday next month, the center defender is maturing like a great win. If his performances under Eddie Howe are any indication, he still has a lot of years left in him, but he calls this move the “perfect preparation for life after my football career.”

The defender’s current contract expires at the end of the 2023–2024 campaign, although the team has the option to extend it by one more year, and they have been negotiating better terms.

Newcastle United star Schar deserves extended ban

Schar has stated that he will “help shape the strategic paths of the club” at the second-tier Swiss team, explaining his decision:

“My childhood, youth, and lifeblood club is FC Wil 1900.”

“Being able to influence the club’s strategic directions now is a great way for me to get ready for life after football.”
