Tony Fernandes has confirmed he is leaving Queens Park Rangers

Tony Fernandes, a co-owner of Queens Park Rangers, has announced that he is quitting the team after selling all of his shares at Loftus Road.

The 59-year-old has chosen to concentrate his efforts on other business endeavors, such as Malaysian low-cost airline AirAsia. He purchased the west London club in 2011 with Ruben Gnanalingam and Kamarudin Meranun.

After dismissing former manager Neil Critchley in February, QPR under Gary Ainsworth ended the previous campaign in the Championship as runners-up.

“My involvement with QPR has been an incredible period of highs and lows,” Fernandes stated on the team website.

With the exception of family, QPR has allowed me to have some of the best times of my life.

Tony Fernandes, a co-owner of QPR, has announced his departure from the team after selling all of his interests.
The 59-year-old Malaysian businessman has called his 12-year stay at Loftus Road “an incredible period of highs and lows.” He purchased Queens Park Rangers back in 2011.

“There have been exceptional wins on the field, and it was an honor to witness our promotion to the Premier League at Wembley Stadium.”

“I have always been extremely proud of QPR’s reputation as a true community club off the field.” Because I am a passionate person, the good times have meant a great deal to me, but the bad times have also hurt.

With heavy heart, I have decided to step away. I want to express my gratitude to all of my fans with whom I have traveled over the past ten years. I’ll keep an eye on QPR’s performance and wish the board all the best in the coming years.

After being demoted from the Premier League in 2015, QPR has only once placed among the top 10 in the Championship, that being in ninth place in 2020–21.
