Yasir Al-Rumayyan ally has debunked claim PIF could sell Newcastle United to buy Manchester United

Despite rumors that the Glazers’ desire to sell would lead to such a move, Newcastle United’s owners are unlikely to sell the team in order to buy Manchester United.

Allies of club chairman Yasir Al-Rumayyan have already refuted astonishing suggestions made this week that Newcastle United’s owners could get rid of the Magpies to take over at Manchester United. The possibility of the Red Devils taking control has reignited speculation that Saudi investors may buy the Old Trafford team.

Even further, Simon Chadwick, SKEMA Business School professor of sport and geopolitical economy, suggested that PIF might purchase the team; however, PIF would need to sell Newcastle in order to purchase another Premier League team.

“I believe the deal for Newcastle was essentially sold heavily to them by intermediaries, and Newcastle United has always seemed like an opportunistic purchase,” Chadwick said to The Athletic.

“You had a willing seller, and the sum they offered is minuscule. I believe that Newcastle’s shrewd acquisition came about as a result of Manchester United first kicking them back. It’s likely that some Saudi officials will be a little shocked that they purchased Newcastle instead of Manchester United.

Now that they’re in this situation, they could be able to purchase Manchester United. It is possible that they may sell Newcastle and acquire Manchester United, albeit I may be putting a bit too much stock in this.

Supporters of Newcastle responded quickly to the allegation, but they have already been told that PIF isn’t currently planning such an incredible move. Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki al-Faisal, the minister of sports for Saudi Arabia, recently stated that the investment budget was only aimed at the newly purchased North East team.
