Ronnie O’Sullivan has acknowledged that he regrets not releasing his candid documentary on Amazon Prime earlier in the week.

The documentary also features the snooker star discussing his mental health and the highs and lows he has experienced throughout his storied career, culminating in his seventh World Snooker Championship title in 2022.

The 46-year-old has received praise for sharing some of his most vulnerable moments as a player, but he acknowledged that he found it difficult to watch the documentary after it was released.

Speaking following his 6-2 victory over Anthony McGill at the UK Championship to go to the round of 16, the Rocket expressed his sorrow that people are now responding to his feature in person.

“As many athletes haven’t granted such access, I just thought to try and give people an insight into what it’s like,” he told the BBC. “I knew I was going to have to do one at some point. I just thought doing a behind-the-scenes one was pretty different.”

“It may appear negative to some, but it’s part of the experience, particularly in Sheffield. Now that it’s over with, I can concentrate on playing, which makes me happy.

To be honest, I found it easier to do than to watch. Poor fella, I felt a little sorry for myself. As you practice, though, you grow accustomed to it and lose sight of how you appear to others.

For this reason, I can understand why some of my friends seem concerned when they see me. You can’t see yourself, but I can tell that you grow accustomed to it on the inside while I go through it.
