BREAKNG NEWS: Hossein Vafaei ”Revenge” Against Legend’ Ronnie O’Sullivan

Hossein Vafaei talks about “respect” and says he’s “going to be dangerous” if he beats Ronnie O’Sullivan in the second round of the World Snooker Championship.

Vafaei desires “revenge” on O’Sullivan, the World Snooker Championship champion.

In the second round of the World Championship, Hossein Vafaei claims he has the “opportunity for revenge” against the reigning champion, Ronnie O’Sullivan.

Vafaei defeated Ding Junhui 10–6 in Sheffield on Monday, turning a 5–4 deficit from the previous night into breaks of 117, 122, 68, 57, and 89.

Last year, the Iranian said that O’Sullivan, the seven-time champion, was “not good for the game” and urged him to resign.

It was recently stated by Englishman O’Sullivan that Vafaei had “learned to be quiet”.

“He is a legend of the sport but he is such a nice person when he is asleep,” stated world number 23 Vafaei on Monday.Hossein Vafaei says 'disrespectful' Ronnie O'Sullivan is 'only a nice person when asleep' - Daily Star

“It depends on me since God has given me the chance to exact revenge after he mistreated me in the past. If I want to be world champion, I have to get up in front of him.

“Get your popcorn, everyone.

Vafaei, who advanced through qualifying to make it to the World Championship for just the second time, won the competition with an incredible potting performance.

The 28-year-old put up a strong 8-5 lead after winning the first four sets in just forty-three minutes, earning a standing ovation from the spectators.

His remarks, nevertheless, will undoubtedly liven up what promises to be an exciting match. He brought up O’Sullivan’s 5-0 victory at the German Masters in October 2021, when in the decisive frame, he destroyed the pack of reds from the break.

“Ronnie O’Sullivan is a terrific player and a living legend. On the table, I respect him,” Vafaei said to BBC Sport.

“Considering what has happened in the past, this match will be fantastic. A few days ago, I heard that he was talking about me and that I had been quiet.

“We’re having a game of pool. His speech has a gruff, boxing-like quality to it. Respect for one another is essential if we want our sport to advance.

“He has already demonstrated everything; in this sport, he has accomplished everything.

“Hopefully, I’ll perform as well as I did today. Even if he defeats me 13-0, I will still enjoy being in the game.”
