Milan scout potential replacement in case €90-100m man is sold

There is an excess of speculation around the future of Mike Maignan at the moment, and the AC Milan management are alert to the goalkeeper market.

The goalkeeper wants €8 million per season to extend his current contract, which expires in 2026, according to a story published yesterday by Corriere della Sera (via MilanNews). With his annual salary of €2.8 million, the management must decide, and Carlo Pellegatti attested to the validity of this request.

Tuttosport (via PianetaMilan) claims that since there should be no shortage of interest from elite European teams, it cannot be ruled out that Milan and Maignan reach a contract stalemate and are obliged to cash in on him.

Who might take his place? Among the names on the list is Michele Di Gregorio, who is having great success with Monza. Newcastle United is among the teams who have dispatched scouts to observe him closely at the U-Power Stadium in recent weeks, having been impressed by his exploits.

In the event that Meret and/or Maignan leave, Napoli and Milan will be watching him. But according to Tuttosport, the Rossoneri would need to receive a bid of between €90 and €100 million before considering selling the Frenchman.

Di Gregorio’s representative disclosed last year that although his client was raised as a Milan supporter, his greatest desire is to return to Inter, the team where he believes he still has unresolved business.
