Joan Laporta, the president of Barcelona, has stated that he plans to discuss Joao Cancelo’s long-term future with Manchester City.
The explosive full-back has made a name for himself for the LaLiga powerhouses, starting all but one of the matches in which he has been available.
This season, Cancelo has made 17 appearances for Barcelona across all competitions, tallying three goals and dishing out two assists.
The Portugal international apparently had a falling out with Man City manager Pep Guardiola, and in the summer he signed a season-long loan with Barcelona. This followed his time with Bayern Munich during the latter half of the previous season.
Given his significant contribution to Man City’s recent success, it was unexpected when he first left the team.
In 2018, he moved from Juventus to Man City. With the Cityzens, he has made 154 appearances, with 22 assists and nine goals.
Cancelo assisted Man City in winning two League Cups, an FA Cup, and three Premier League championships during this time.
But it appears that he might stay at Barcelona for some time to come.
