Barcelona president confirms permanent Deal, With Two Talented Star

In just a few hours, FC Barcelona and Girona will square off in what looks to be an exciting match between the two Catalan teams.

President Joan Laporta discussed topics pertaining to the club and the upcoming match in an interview with Catalunya Radio, which was broadcast on SPORT, prior to the much awaited meeting.

Joao Cancelo and Joao Felix were added to the team on loan last summer, and Laporta announced that talks with their parent clubs will eventually take place.

The club intends to make the players’ stay permanent following the campaign.

He declared, “We are very happy, and Deco already has a plan for when we think it’s right to speak with Atlético and City and stay with them.”

We are quite happy, and Deco already has a plan for when we believe it’s time to speak with Atlético and City and remain with them,” the man stated.

“I hope that if Xavi puts them on tonight, they will continue to do very well. They are both having a great season and we are sure that they will progress more and more,” he continued.

Pablo Torre and Eric Garcia were loaned out by Barcelona to Girona during the summer. Unfortunately, a fear clause that was placed into the agreement and Girona’s unwillingness to pay a price that would have permitted Torre’s participation mean that Torre will not be taking part tonight.

Regarding Torre’s circumstances, Laporta said:

“Pablo Torre could play, but we also have to pay for (the transfer of) Oriol Romeu if Girona pays the agreed upon amount (€300,000).”

Joan Laporta stated, “Eric is a professional who will try to play a good game and I hope he does because he is our player,” in reference to Eric Garcia. May Eric have a successful game and may Barça triumph.

In a recent interview, Aleix Garcia—who plays for Girona currently—praised Barcelona and said he would love to play for the Blaugranes.

When asked to comment on Aleix Garcia’s remarks, Laporta declined to discuss such speculative matters, asserting:

Even if Barça has a fantastic team, I still enjoy the guys, but these things just make things more confusing.

When the ball is in Xavi’s system, the team performs better and better. We have a very competitive team and an amazing coach.

With a cautious sense of optimism, Laporta stated that he wanted Barcelona to win all three points, saying, “I’m not a cheerleader but I do want a result, whatever it may be, but with a victory for Barça.”

But the president showed respect for Girona, recognizing them as both a friend and a rival.

It is both a friend and a rival. Girona is a team that we can sympathize with and feel a sense of belonging to simply because of that, but it is  still a competitor, and the only way to honor it is to outperform it because it faces less pressure than we do,” he said.
