Nottingham Forest now want 53-year-old manager to replace steve cooper..

Pedro Martins is among Nottingham Forest’s shortlisted contenders to succeed Steve Cooper. After the midweek loss to Fulham, Reds owner Evangelos Marinakis has been considering his options.

On the other hand, Cooper led Forest to a valiant 1-1 draw with Wolves over the weekend. It becomes clear from the fallout that he is not under the sack right away.

On Friday night, Forest takes on Tottenham at City Ground. It appears that Cooper will have another opportunity to attempt to halt the current run of form.

Forest have Martins on their manager shortlist

Martins is currently being considered as Cooper’s replacement at Forest, according to Greek publication Upopsi Sports. He is currently Al-Gharafa SC’s manager in Saudi Arabia.

Martins collaborated with Marinakis at Olympiacos for four years. Out of the 221 games he managed, he won 143 of them, earning three league titles and a win ratio that was just under 65%.

He was fired in August 2022, which makes this one interesting from the Forest’s point of view because Marinakis has already thrown him out of a club.

Coaches' Voice | Lights out

Martins would be a risky Forest appointment.

This would be risky because the 53-year-old has only ever managed in lower leagues than the Premier League. But Marinakis is familiar with him as a manager, and he was obviously regarded highly at Olympiacos.

Martins was fired by the Forest owner previously, but given the owner’s track record of firing managers, it is noteworthy that he spent four years at Olympiacos.

For Forest, Martins simply seems like too big of a risk. Any manager who takes over for Cooper must have experience in a premier European league, and Martins simply does not fit that description.
