‘Outstanding’ AC Milan critical player is now set to miss Newcastle game

Due to their ongoing injury crisis, AC Milan is expected to be missing a critical player before their trip to Newcastle on Wednesday.

Both teams are dealing with injury issues this season, and Milan has suffered a serious setback recently as Simon Kjaer is no longer anticipated to play in the Northeast.

According to Gazzetto dello Sport, the Danish defender was hoping to be fit for the match after overcoming an injury, but he is still not prepared to play.

Milan to be with just one centre-back against Newcastle

Newcastle, coming off of two crushing Premier League losses, will be worried about the lack of healthy players ready to play on Wednesday, but Milan is also dealing with injury issues.

Kjaer is now expected to miss the match, leaving Fikayo Tomori—who was excellent against Newcastle in the San Siro reverse leg—as the only available center back for the Italians.

Kjaer has had a “outstanding” career thus far, winning numerous accolades for his club and nation and earning a 2021 Ballon d’OR nomination. The Serie A team, who are currently at the bottom of Group F, will really miss him.

It’s known that Milan is worried about the way their defense is currently set up, and Newcastle may try to take advantage of this in tomorrow night’s crucial match.

Newcastle are starting to get some of their players back

While Joe Willock and Sven Botman are anticipated to return shortly, Callum Wilson and Sean Longstaff have already returned from injury to the starting lineup against Tottenham. There is now hope that Dan Burn will be available on the bench for Newcastle against Milan.

Eddie Howe is finally beginning to put his team back together after what will seem like months and months of dealing with fresh injuries virtually every game; however, he will exercise extreme caution in how he reassigns everyone to the team.

Although it’s unclear at this point whether these players will start for Newcastle against Milan, Howe might be more willing to take chances given how crucial the game is to the team’s future than he normally would.
