Report: Nottingham Forest could now launch January bid for ‘terrific’ player

In the January transfer window, Nottingham Forest is currently considering making a bid for Hayden Hackney. Several Premier League teams have been keeping an eye on the Middlesbrough starlet this season.

During the January transfer window, the Reds will try their luck in the transfer market once more. The squad will be reorganized once more after no fewer than 13 players were added in the summer.

Forest-related Michael Carrick has praised Hackney for his performances this season, describing him as “terrific.” He has made 20 appearances this season as Boro improves following a rough beginning to the league.

Forest now considering January bid for Hackney

The Daily Mail claims that Forest is now thinking about putting Hackney through a water test in January. The midfielder has been observed by scouts from several Premier League clubs, including the big six.

Given that Liverpool and Tottenham are rumored to be major admirers of the young player, both are probably going to present alluring packages. But Forest is thinking of going after Hackney initially.

Born into the Riverside Stadium academy, Hackney has developed under Carrick’s tutelage. The 21-year-old played in 44 games for Boro during the previous season, but they lost in the Championship play-off semifinal.

Hackney would be viewed as one for the future

The fact that Forest used Nicolas Dominguez and Ibrahim Sangare as stand-ins on Saturday tells a tale. It states that the engine room is currently well-stocked for the team.

Although Hackney would be a nice addition for Forest, it’s highly likely that he would be considered a player for the future.

He does have something about him for a 21-year-old. He usually plays a more defensive-minded midfield role and could be considered Cheikhou Kouyate’s long-term replacement.

Because of his potential, Hackney is a desirable addition to Forest. Since his options will almost certainly be limited at the City Ground, a short-term loan back to the EFL might be the best option.
