29-year-old Brazilian transfer update emerges amid Nottingham Forest uncertainty

NottinghamshireLive’s latest Nottingham Forest transfer news includes an update on Gustavo Scarpa.

Following the recent change of management at Olympiacos, Gustavo Scarpa is looking forward to a new beginning.

So far, the 29-year-old has been limited to regular game time at the Greek club, appearing in only seven league games. In the summer, he signed on a season-long loan from Nottingham Forest.

Despite being courted by numerous Brazilian clubs, Scarpa is said to be eager to flourish in Europe. Having said that, a change in management may just help.

While providing an update on his future, writer Jorge Nicola says Scarpa is optimistic about his prospects in Greece with the arrival of former Swansea City manager Carlos Carvalhal. Carvalhal takes over for Diego Martinez, who has only been in command for five months.

There is hope that communication will ease the Brazilian’s dilemma and that his condition will improve under the Portuguese boss. If the midfielder decides to return to his hometown, Scarpa has plenty of options, with Internacional and Atletico Mineiro ready to compete for his signature.

Internacional president Alessandro Barcellos indicated that the club is ready to sign Scarpa if he decides to return to his homeland. “He’s a player we’d like to bring in, but it’s not solely dependent on Internacional,” he told UOL.

“The market is changing, and we usually only put names out there if they have a genuine chance of being here.” He’s a fantastic player who is highly sought after by a number of clubs in Brazil and even internationally. But in order for things to work out, for this or any other negotiation to proceed, we must be cautious in order to be successful.”
