The Montreal Alouettes have solidified their roster for the future by extending the contracts of key players, offensive lineman Jamar McGloster and defensive back Dionté Ruffin, ensuring their presence on the team until 2025.

Jamar McGloster, who stepped into the right tackle position for the Alouettes in 2023 due to an injury to Landon Rice, exhibited his prowess by starting in nine regular-season games.

His contribution was instrumental in the team’s success, culminating in a victory against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the 110th Grey Cup in Hamilton.

With a remarkable six-foot-seven, 308-pound frame, McGloster brings a wealth of experience, having previously played in the NFL with the San Francisco 49ers, Detroit Lions, Los Angeles Chargers, and Oakland Raiders before making his CFL debut with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in 2019.

His tenure also includes stints with the Ottawa Redblacks in 2021 and the B.C. Lions in 2022.

On the defensive front, Dionté Ruffin showcased his skills in 2023, amassing 23 tackles and forcing a fumble across 12 games. Ruffin, standing at five-foot-ten and weighing 177 pounds, displayed versatility by making starts at field-side cornerback, boundary cornerback, and field-side halfback.

His impact continued into the postseason, particularly as the boundary cornerback, where he contributed seven tackles and one pass knockdown. Ruffin had previously played for the Calgary Stampeders in 2022, where he recorded 39 defensive tackles and an interception. Additionally, he had a brief stint with the Chicago Bears after going undrafted in the 2021 NFL Draft.

These contract extensions not only secure the Alouettes’ foundational players but also highlight the team’s commitment to building on its recent success, providing continuity and stability as they strive for further achievements in the seasons to come.
