Newcastle United transfer bombshell as doubt cast over £28m Chelsea deal

Lewis Hall’s intention to play for Newcastle United the next season was not confirmed by Eddie Howe.

The 19-year-old left Chelsea in the summer to sign a season-long contract with the Magpies. The transfer has an obligation to become permanent for £28 million plus £7 million in add-ons provided specific performance-related requirements are satisfied.

Although Hall is expected to stay at St James’ Park for the upcoming season, concerns have been raised over his future due to his lack of play, which has resulted in only four starts.

When asked if the requirements had already been met, Howe responded, “I’m not sure, you’re probably asking the wrong man.””Do you expect him to be a Newcastle United player permanently?” was the exact question posed to Howe. After a brief pause, Newcastle’s head of media said, “We’ll get back to you.”Howe will decide whether to maintain Hall, or will money have a say in it?

“It is not owned by me. He’s here now, in my opinion, and he plays for Newcastle. However, I believe he needs to fulfill a few requirements.” Hall, an international for England’s under-20 team, has played in six games overall. The full-back has been substituted off the field at halftime in four of his starts.

Lewis is a really gifted player, according to Howe. “He is quite talented technically. He has excellent final delivery and is innovative. He is an excellent offensive full-back. We’re working with him on some defensive skills that he has to acquire.

“However, he’s still young and switched to left back recently. Although he is a player with a lot of promise, there needs to be some understanding that it might take him some time to develop the defensive consistency we require.”

Tino Livramento is expected to switch positions at left back, and Hall might start in place of Kieran Trippier for Saturday’s Premier League matchup at home against Fulham. But Howe also has the injured Dan Burn back.
