Breaking News: NFL President Speak Much More About Four Clubs exclusion from consideration or further participation

On Sunday, the College Football Playoff selection committee announced the four teams that would be competing in the Jan. 1 semifinals, marking the conclusion of the final season with a four-team playoff format before its expansion to 12 teams next year.

Notably, Michigan, Washington, Texas, and Alabama emerged as the chosen contenders, leading to Florida State’s exclusion despite being the first unbeaten Power Five conference champion.

In the Rose Bowl, Michigan is set to face Alabama, while Washington will go head-to-head against Texas in the Sugar Bowl. The national championship game is scheduled for Jan. 8 in Houston.

The Seminoles, boasting a perfect 13-0 record, faced a setback when star quarterback Jordan Travis suffered a season-ending injury two weeks prior.

Despite securing victories with a backup and then a third-string quarterback, the committee evaluated teams based on their current status, determining that Florida State without Travis did not rank among the top four in the nation.

This decision presented the committee with its most challenging choice in the 10-year history of the playoff system.

Alabama, securing its eighth playoff appearance, maintained the Southeastern Conference’s streak of never missing the playoff.

Texas, the Big 12 champion, earned its spot after defeating Alabama on the road in September, becoming only the second Power Five team with one loss to be left out.

Michigan, seeking its first playoff victory after two prior appearances, claimed the Big Ten championship.

Washington, making its second playoff appearance, ended the Pac-12’s six-year playoff drought. Notably, this marks Washington’s final appearance in the Pac-12 before moving to the Big Ten.

Despite Florida State’s initial position at No. 4 in the previous CFP rankings, injuries to key players altered their trajectory, culminating in the team’s exclusion from the playoff.

Their unbeaten streak continued with a defensive showcase in the ACC championship, although they only managed to score one touchdown.
