Skysport Report: Auburn Tiger HC Have Important Three Things To Explain About Gerquan Scott

Auburn is anticipated to bolster its offensive line through the transfer portal, with Gerquan Scott from Southern Miss emerging as a potential addition to the 2024 class.

Hailing from Mobile, Alabama, Scott, a seasoned interior offensive lineman, is poised to vie for a starting position at either Auburn or another school of his choice.

Beyond his imposing physical stature, standing at 6 feet 4 inches and weighing 330 pounds, Scott brings several attributes that could enhance Auburn’s offensive line in the upcoming season.

Notably, he possesses versatility across all three positions on the interior offensive line. While initially securing a role at right guard during his tenure at Southern Miss in 2020, Scott transitioned predominantly to left guard.

In the previous season, he demonstrated his adaptability by taking on the center position for several games, showcasing his potential as a valuable asset in case of injuries while also being a viable starter as a guard in the competitive SEC.

A key aspect of Scott’s appeal lies in his extensive experience on the field. Having commenced his college football journey in 2019, he has accumulated a substantial number of snaps over the years.

The progression in his playing time is evident, with 393 snaps in 2020, 766 in 2021, 747 in 2022, and an impressive 814 in 2023, bringing his career total to 2,720 snaps.

Moreover, Scott could address a crucial gap in Auburn’s offensive line left by the departure of Gunner Britton, a significant loss due to graduation and his transition to the NFL.

With other starting positions expected to be retained, pending Dillon Wade’s return, Scott has the potential to seamlessly fill the void left by Britton, providing the Tigers with a one-year solution while head coach Hugh Freeze works on fortifying the team’s overall depth.
