Breaking News: Newcastle United “internal” meeting revealed as sack rumours gather speed after Luton defeat

Newcastle United suffered another loss as Luton Town secured a 1-0 victory at Kenilworth Road. This result means that the Magpies have only managed to win one of their last six matches, with the rest ending in defeats.

Andros Townsend of Luton scored the sole goal of the game in the first half, heading in at the back post after a corner from Alfie Doughty was flicked on by Ross Barkley. Despite Newcastle’s efforts to find an equalizer, it was Luton that came closest to extending their lead. Barkley struck the underside of the bar with a powerful 30-yard shot, and later, Jacob Brown replicated the feat in the second half after a setup by Elijah Adebayo. Although Alexander Isak believed he had equalized, VAR ruled him offside. Manager Rob Edwards mentioned that his team aimed to win for their absent captain, who had been discharged from the hospital on Thursday.

Reports suggest that the owners of Newcastle United, PIF (Public Investment Fund), are dissatisfied with manager Eddie Howe. The recent defeat to Luton, marking the team’s fourth consecutive loss away from St James’ Park, is expected to fuel speculation about Howe’s potential dismissal.

In his post-game comments, Howe acknowledged the team’s internal discussions about the importance of away form, emphasizing the need for consistency both at home and away. He admitted that their performance epitomized their struggles away from home, citing a lack of proactive play in the first half.

The pressure on Howe has heightened as the team grapples with challenges in their away performances, and PIF’s discontent further contributes to the rumors of a possible managerial change at Newcastle United.
