Breaking News: Club president encourages mystery before announcing top target deal

Atlético Mineiro supporters are still anticipating the acquisition of Gustavo Scarpa, with indications from Brazil suggesting that the ongoing narrative is progressing towards its concluding phase.

Earlier this week, a story emerged indicating that the player was engaged in ongoing negotiations with Nottingham Forest, as the club still owes him a signing bonus and outstanding salary payments that need resolution before his departure.

In a recent update by journalist André Hernan, he reports that Scarpa’s contract termination with Nottingham Forest is progressing well. The midfielder is expected to be officially announced by Atlético Mineiro in the coming days and is anticipated to arrive in Brazil before the year’s end.

Globo Esporte, in its coverage of the transfer, states that the Brazilian side is finalizing the last details of the signing, although specific information on these details is not disclosed. The outlet affirms that negotiations between Scarpa and Nottingham Forest regarding pending payments are still ongoing before the move can be officially confirmed.

In an interview with journalist Breno Galante, club president Sérgio Coelho emphasized the necessity of maintaining secrecy regarding the story, despite expressing admiration for the Nottingham Forest player.

President Coelho stated, “For the sake of Atlético, secrecy is necessary. In football, if there’s no secrecy, what you say can work against the club and disrupt negotiations. I don’t even disclose it to my family – not to my father or children – because information tends to spread. When negotiating with an athlete, complete silence is crucial.”

He further praised the player, describing him as a “spectacular” talent. Coelho expressed the belief that 100% of Brazilian clubs would desire to have the player on their team, highlighting his versatility and competitive spirit. The president asserted that the player, upon joining any club, would likely secure a starting position and fiercely compete for his role, emphasizing that all clubs are welcoming to him.
