Senegal, the defending champions, have summoned Nottingham Forest’s duo Moussa Niakhate and Cheikhou Kouyate for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations. Additionally, Ivory Coast, the host nation, has selected Willy Boly, Serge Aurier, and Ibrahim Sangare from the Reds for the tournament.

Scheduled to occur from January 13 to February 11, the Africa Cup of Nations will culminate with the final at the Alassane Ouattara Stadium in Abidjan. Originally slated for June and July of the current year, the tournament’s timing was shifted due to apprehensions about adverse weather conditions, considering it would have overlapped with the rainy season in the host nation.

Niakhate, Kouyate, Boly, Aurier, Sangare, and Aina may potentially miss as many as four Premier League matches while representing their respective nations on international duty. Depending on the progress of their teams, their absence could affect matches against Brentford on January 20, Arsenal on January 30, Bournemouth on February 4, and Newcastle United on February 10.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s team is set for an FA Cup encounter at home against Blackpool on January 7, followed by a scheduled winter break the next weekend. In the event of a victory against Blackpool, potential FA Cup fourth-round fixtures are slated for the weekend of January 27/28.

The draw for the Africa Cup of Nations 2023 has been revealed with the following group details:

Group A: Ivory Coast, Nigeria, Equatorial Guinea, Guinea-Bissau.

Group B: Egypt, Ghana, Cape Verde, Mozambique.

Group C: Senegal, Cameroon, Guinea, The Gambia.
