Sunderland at final stage to Announce deal for another “excellent” player

The Black Cats could receive a potential boost in their quest for promotion. Under new manager Michael Beale, Sunderland has experienced a mixed start, suffering defeat in his first game against Coventry City but bouncing back with a 1-0 win over play-off rivals Hull City in the latest fixture. As they prepare to face Rotherham United next, the new manager aims to build on the recent victory and establish consistency in the Championship, potentially securing a spot in the top six.

With the January transfer window just days away, Sunderland has the opportunity to bring in potential game-changers, and this might involve acquiring a promising talent from the Premier League.

Sunderland transfer news

In his inaugural transfer window at The Stadium of Light, Michael Beale aims to make an immediate impact on the Sunderland side he inherited from Tony Mowbray. The primary objective is likely to seamlessly continue from where Mowbray left off and secure a spot in the play-offs. Currently, Beale’s team holds the sixth position on goal difference, ahead of Hull and one point clear of both Bristol City and Preston North End. However, with the competition intense, any misstep could see Sunderland drop out of the crucial top six. To avoid such a setback, the club might explore opportunities in the transfer market.

According to Sky Sports, Sunderland is considering a January move to acquire Fulham striker Jay Stansfield, currently on loan at Birmingham City in the Championship. However, in their pursuit of the forward, Sunderland may face competition from fellow promotion contenders Ipswich Town, who are also reportedly interested in securing the striker’s services during the January transfer window.
