Championship clubs ‘on alert’ for Newcastle United midfielder amid January transfer speculation

A Newcastle United midfielder might be set for another transfer in January.

Isaac Hayden, the midfielder from Newcastle United, may be looking at another transfer this winter, as Championship clubs are reportedly keeping a close eye on the possibility of his availability. Currently on loan at Belgian side Standard Liege, Hayden has been a regular player for them since leaving Tyneside in September.

Nevertheless, according to reports from Football Insider, there are indications that Newcastle United may bring Isaac Hayden back from his loan at Standard Liege when the winter transfer window commences. Hayden, who was on loan at Norwich City last season, wasn’t permanently signed by the Canaries. Subsequently, he spent the entire summer seeking a new club as his time at Newcastle United approached its conclusion.

Despite being under contract with the club until 2026, Isaac Hayden is not included in Eddie Howe’s first-team plans, and the club is open to a permanent departure if they receive a suitable offer for him. If Hayden’s stint at Liege concludes this winter, significant interest from Championship clubs is anticipated for the midfielder, potentially leading to another loan spell in the English second division.

Newcastle presently has four players on loan in the Championship, with Jamal Lewis at Watford, Harrison Ashby at Swansea City, Jeff Hendrick at Sheffield Wednesday, and Ryan Fraser at Southampton. Isaac Hayden, previously at Carrow Road last season, brings a wealth of Championship experience, having played a pivotal role in Newcastle’s 2017 success. He had earlier contributed to Hull City’s promotion while on loan from Arsenal.
