Champions league tested super star has finally ‘agree’ to join Newcastle United

Everton is rumored to be considering an unexpected transfer for a player who has previously competed in the Premier League.

Everton is reportedly considering a surprising transfer for Jesse Lingard, the former midfielder of Manchester United and Nottingham Forest. Lingard, currently a free agent, departed from Forest at the conclusion of the previous season.

Sean Dyche’s team is currently positioned fourth from the bottom in the Premier League, narrowly leading Luton Town by only one point following their recent loss to Wolves. On the other hand, Jesse Lingard has been unattached to any club since his departure from Forest after a single season. There were brief speculations about his potential moves to West Ham and later to Al-Ettifaq in Saudi Arabia, but neither transfer materialized.

In 2022, there were strong rumors connecting Lingard to a transfer to Newcastle United, and he came close to joining the Magpies in the last days of the January transfer window. However, Manchester United intervened at the last moment, causing the deal to fall through. Subsequently, he opted for a move to the City Ground, but his tenure there was marked by a lack of contribution, as he failed to record a single goal or assist in the Premier League during the season. As a result, he departed as a free agent.

As per TalkSport, Everton is considering giving the 31-year-old another opportunity in the Premier League this month, with Sean Dyche looking to reinforce his squad for the upcoming survival battle. Discussing his unsuccessful attempt to move to St James’ Park in 2022 on the Diary of a CEO podcast, Lingard disclosed the reasons behind the breakdown of the deal despite his eagerness to make the switch: “I wanted to go on loan again in January because I wasn’t playing again. Newcastle was on the cards in January. The deal was done – everything – but the [Manchester] United squad was not big enough.”
