Good News: Texans Confirm Another Offensive Tackle 4th Nominations At Pro Bowl Starter

“Laremy Tunsil Secures AFC Pro Bowl Starting Spot in 2024, Marking His Fourth Selection Since 2019”

In a celebratory announcement on Wednesday, the NFL revealed that Houston Texans’ left tackle, Laremy Tunsil, has earned a starting position on the AFC roster for the 2024 Pro Bowl. This marks Tunsil’s fourth Pro Bowl selection since he joined the Texans ahead of the 2019 season.

Notably, Tunsil solidified his position as one of the league’s top tackles during the offseason when he signed a lucrative three-year contract worth $75 million. This deal catapulted him to the highest-paid tackle, boasting an annual salary of $25 million.

Tunsil, a consistent force on the blindside, has consistently delivered All-Pro performances as he enters his age 30 season. In the 2023 season, he demonstrated his prowess by allowing only 12 quarterback hurries across 16 games, tying for the second-fewest in the NFL and claiming the top spot among AFC players.

Pro Football Focus rated his pass-blocking at 84.1, ranking him third in the league, just behind Tyron Smith of the Dallas Cowboys and Garrett Bolles of the Denver Broncos.

Interestingly, Tunsil stands alone as the sole Texans player selected for the 2024 Pro Bowl, distinguishing him in a league of his own.

However, six other Texans players, including Will Anderson Jr., Derek Stingley Jr., C.J. Stroud, Andrew Beck, Nico Collins, and Jonathan Greenard, were named alternates.

Among the notable alternates, Stroud, a strong contender for Offensive Rookie of the Year, could potentially step in should a starter reach the Super Bowl.

Texans' Laremy Tunsil hopes to earn All-Pro

Collins achieved a significant milestone with his first 1,000-yard season, aiming to surpass the 1,200-yard mark—a feat not accomplished by a Texans receiver since DeAndre Hopkins in 2018.

Greenard, on the other hand, achieved an impressive milestone by recording 12.5 sacks, becoming the first Texans player since J.J. Watt in 2018 to achieve such a feat.

The Pro Bowl, which has evolved into a week-long series of events, will take place in Orlando, Florida, on January 1, with a flag football game concluding the festivities on Sunday.

As the Texans eye a playoff berth, their upcoming matchup with the Indianapolis Colts in Week 18 holds significant implications for their postseason aspirations.

A victory could secure a playoff spot, and with additional circumstances favoring them, it could also lead to them clinching the AFC South title and hosting the Cleveland Browns in the Wild Card Round. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:15 p.m. at Lucas Oil Stadium, and the game will be nationally televised on ESPN.”
