GOOD NEWS: Auburn Super star player $65 million declares for the 2024 NFL Draft

On Thursday, the Auburn football team received news of yet another departure from its defensive line, as defensive tackle Justin Rogers declared his intention to enter the 2024 NFL Draft. Utilizing the platform X, formerly known as Twitter, Rogers shared a heartfelt message, expressing trust in a higher power amid life’s uncertainties and a commitment to walking by faith at the pace of grace.

Rogers, who spent a single season at Auburn after transferring from Kentucky last offseason, evolved from a backup to a starting role alongside Marcus Harris.

Harris, too, is making the leap to the professional ranks, amplifying the impact of these departures on Auburn’s defensive line. During his tenure at Auburn, Rogers amassed 17 tackles, including two for a loss, and secured a sack.

The announcement of Rogers participating in the East-West Shrine Bowl, a crucial showcase for NFL Draft prospects, came in the week leading up to the Music City Bowl in December. Scheduled for February 1, this event provides a platform for players to showcase their skills in front of scouts.

Despite his prior commitment to the East-West Shrine Bowl, Rogers had not definitively declared for the NFL Draft until his announcement on Thursday.

With both Harris and Rogers exiting the team, Auburn has been proactive in addressing the defensive line gaps. The recruitment efforts have spanned both high school players and the transfer portal, with notable additions such as Trill Carter from Texas and Gage Keys from Kansas.

Further fortifying the defensive line, Auburn secured the commitment of four-star recruit Amaris Williams, who shifted allegiance from Florida to Auburn on National Signing Day. Williams, primarily an edge defender in high school, will transition to a defensive lineman role at Auburn.

The roster also welcomes three-star defensive lineman Malik Blocton, who happens to be Harris’s younger brother.

While the defensive line undergoes significant changes, there is a silver lining for Auburn as Jayson Jones, the initial starter alongside Harris, has communicated his intention to return for the 2024 season. Jones’s decision provides a semblance of continuity amidst the reshaping of Auburn’s defensive front.
