Journalist Report: Oklahoma HC Confirm Another Huge Move of a Super Star Player To Texas

“Veteran Quarterback Casey Thompson Transfers to Oklahoma for Seventh Collegiate Year

Casey Thompson, a seasoned quarterback with starts against the Sooners while at both Texas and Nebraska, has announced his transfer to Oklahoma for his seventh year of eligibility.

This move marks Thompson’s fourth team in as many years, making him a familiar name for Sooners fans. His father, Charles Thompson, was a starting quarterback at Oklahoma, adding a family connection to the story.

During the 2018 recruiting cycle, the Sooners vied for Thompson’s services when he was a three-star prospect from Newcastle (Oklahoma) High School. Despite their efforts, Thompson signed with top rival Texas.

Over the course of his collegiate career, he faced the Sooners twice, both times resulting in losses, yet accumulating impressive stats with 517 yards and six touchdowns.

Thompson’s journey to Norman has been a lengthy one, featuring a redshirt year at Texas, playing for Texas under two different coaches, and a stint at Nebraska amid coaching changes and injuries.
His seventh year of eligibility is a testament to his perseverance, with a brief stop at Florida Atlantic, where he suffered an ACL tear but secured a medical hardship waiver.

While Oklahoma has already identified its starting quarterback in former five-star prospect Jackson Arnold, Thompson’s presence adds a veteran dynamic to the quarterback room.

With the departure of Dillon Gabriel and backup Davis Beville, the Sooners’ quarterback depth is a concern.

Thompson’s experience, having thrown for 5,338 yards and 52 touchdowns with a 152.4 passer rating, positions him as a valuable asset and potential emergency option for Oklahoma in the upcoming season.”
