‘Mixed Issues’ Blake Smith Leave For his coming Hours Ago

Blake Smith, the former Oklahoma tight end, made a significant impact during his brief tenure with the Sooners, showcasing his prowess with a touchdown in the season opener and earning commendable offensive grades overall. Despite only spending one season at OU, Smith maximized his playing time, leaving a lasting impression.

After officially entering the NCAA Transfer Portal on January 2, Smith recently revealed his decision to join Texas State for the upcoming season. Standing at 6 feet 4 inches and weighing 256 pounds, Smith, a Southlake Carroll High School alum, initiated his collegiate football career at Texas A&M from 2020 to 2022.

During his time with the Aggies, he faced limited action, redshirting in 2020 without seeing any snaps, participating in two games in 2021, and featuring in five games in 2022.

While Smith played a mere 76 snaps in his first two seasons at Texas A&M, his transfer to OU in 2023 marked a turning point.

In the 2023 season at OU, Smith contributed to nine games as a backup tight end, also making appearances on multiple special teams units. Over the course of his collegiate career, he accumulated two receptions at Texas A&M and added two more at OU.

Notably, Smith’s standout moment with the Sooners occurred in the season-opening victory against Arkansas State, where he secured a memorable 28-yard touchdown. Additionally, he showcased his skills by catching another touchdown pass in the spring game last year, further solidifying his impact on the field.
