Shocking how and why Brewers have agreed to deal with ex-Phillies first legendary  baseman

Rhys Hoskins, a former first baseman for the Philadelphia Phillies, has agreed to sign a two-year, $34 million contract with the Milwaukee Brewers.

The agreement was disclosed to ESPN, The Athletic, and MLB.com on Tuesday night by sources. There is a one-year opt-out clause in the agreement.

As of Wednesday morning, the Brewers had not yet made the signing official.

In 156 games in 2022, Hoskins, 30, hit.246 with 30 home runs and 79 RBIs. He had an ACL tear that kept him out of the 2023 campaign.

Throughout his first six seasons with the Phillies, the seven-year veteran hit.242 with 148 home runs in 667 games.

The Brewers had the eighth-worst batting average in MLB last season, hitting just.250. They had the sixth-fewest home runs (163) and the fifth-fewest hits (1,290).
