NFL reporter Aaron Wilson has confirmed that the Houston Texans are re-signing Khalil Davis, a key rotational defensive tackle.
This marks Davis’ fourth year in the NFL and his second consecutive year with the Texans. Notably, Davis has had a journey through various teams since entering the league in 2020, never spending more than one year with a single NFL team until joining the Texans.
Before becoming a rotational piece under the guidance of head coach DeMeco Ryans, Davis had a limited impact in his early NFL career.
His initial stint with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2020 saw him play only two games, recording two tackles and two quarterback hits. Subsequently, he briefly joined the Indianapolis Colts.
Despite facing challenges that led to a brief hiatus from the league, Davis found redemption with the Houston Texans under the leadership of rookie head coach DeMeco Ryans.
In the past two years, he played in only one game without recording any stats. However, in 2023, Davis carved out a significant role in the Texans’ lineup, participating in 15 games and contributing 32 tackles, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery, and two pass deflections.
This marked a notable turnaround in his career, allowing him to showcase his skills and make a meaningful impact on the team.
In 2023, Davis also had the opportunity to express gratitude to his alma mater, the Nebraska Cornhuskers, further highlighting the positive trajectory of his career with the Houston Texans.
