Kansas City Chiefs Confirm Another Leave Of Key Player Texans

DeMeco Ryans of the Houston Texans Talks About His NFL Draft Trade.

The Houston Texans, who are regarded as one of the Kansas City Chiefs’ greatest challenges to winning an AFC title for the third time in a row, have aggressively acquired young talent behind quarterback C.J. Stroud, the former No. 2 overall choice.

But general manager Nick Caserio and the Texans made the decision to exit the first round in order to increase their bankroll in subsequent rounds, little over a month before the 2024 NFL Draft, by trading with the Minnesota Vikings.

Texans Call Off Pursuit Of Patriots' Nick Caserio As Next General Manager

Houston head coach DeMeco Ryans calls the trade of the Texans’ No. 23 overall choice to the Vikings for two second-round selections and a fifth-round selection a value decision.

At the NFL Annual Meeting in Orlando, Ryans said reporters, “There’s a really large amount of players in a second to third, fourth round,” noting that the range was seen to be the “sweet spot.”

Similarly, the Texans, who own two second-round selections, have an opportunity to bolster a youthful, quickly developing squad that is poised for long-term success by adding two of the top 64 players in this year’s class.
