Marquise “Hollywood” Brown helped the Kansas City Chiefs fill the void at wide receiver in free agency, but they may still decide to stack the deck at the position in the NFL draft.
Georgia wide receiver Ladd McConkey is an intriguing talent who might go to the Chiefs at No. 32 overall. McConkey is a draft riser who elevated his profile during Senior Bowl week and the combine.
On March 28, scouting analyst Derrik Klassen of Bleacher Report identified McConkey as a top “team fit” for the Chiefs in the NFL.
Klassen stated, “Ladd McConkey is as explosive and well-trained a route runner as you’ll find outside the top 10 in this class.” “But don’t misunderstand: He plays more than just slots.”
The draft specialist said, “His best routes are comebacks, outs, and post routes from an outside alignment, routes that highlight his burst and snappy route transitions.” Observing: “He is not just a slot player; he is more of a vertical Z.”
Klassen listed the Dallas Cowboys and New England Patriots as possible system fits for McConkey in addition to the Chiefs.
