It’s the last regularly scheduled Raptors News because it’s the last Tuesday of the season. Fear not—news updates will still be sent throughout this offseason, but less often. The NBA Playoffs will slow down for the Toronto Raptors as the other teams play in the postseason.
As the NBA Draft Lottery, the actual draft, and free agency get near, there will be more news.
In order to avoid finishing the season with a depressing new record, the Raptors finished the last week 2-2, winning over the Milwaukee Bucks and Washington Wizards before falling to the Los Angeles Lakers and Minnesota Timberwolves.
Breaking the pattern
That’s not to suggest that throughout their humiliating 15-game losing skid, the Raptors avoided any depressing record-setting. They were completely destroyed by the Minnesota Timberwolves, 133-85, a 48-point margin of defeat, setting a new team record for their worst loss. Furthermore, their point difference during that 15-game stretch was the ninth-worst in NBA history overall, not just in Raptors history.
Thus, the Toronto Raptors’ and their supporters’ great relief came when they ended their losing run the next night with an unexpected 117-111 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks. The Raptors returned all of their perimeter starters and had strong games from all three to win despite still being without starting center Scottie Barnes and shooting guard Jakob Poeltl.
