”Mixed Issues” Just Hours Two Player Confirm Transfer, One another experience Departure

The Auburn football team has been active in the transfer portal thus far. After the A-Day game, head coach Hugh Freeze made note of a number of important areas that needed to be filled, and he and his coaching staff have worked hard to address the issues.

The Tigers gained three additional pledges to the 2024 roster in less than a day. The first of the three was Philip Blidi, a former defensive lineman for Indiana, about whose acquisition you can read in this Auburn Tigers News article.

Five facts about Auburn transfer DL Philip Blidi

After Blidi’s pledge, two more defensive prospects were added. Early on Monday, defensive lineman Isaiah Raikes made a commitment to the Tigers. After the 2023 season, the defensive lineman transferred to Texas A&M, where he spent four years.

After visiting Auburn in January, he decided to enroll at USC. Now when the spring window opened in April, he returned to the portal and made a commitment to Freeze and the Tigers.

Raikes recorded 43 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, and 1.5 sacks during his four years as an Aggie. He will provide more defensive line experience as the Tigers attempt to improve their position following Marcus Harris’s departure.

Keyron Crawford, a former edger for Arkansas State, made the third commitment. His lone trip to the Plains since using the transfer portal was earlier this week, and he knew Auburn was the right location for him. Crawford amassed an incredible 59 total stops, 14.5 tackles for loss, 7.5 sacks, and two forced fumbles in just two seasons with the Red Wolves.

A third Auburn football player decided to use the transfer portal in the middle of all the adds. Wesley Steiner was a four-star linebacker in high school who spent four seasons with the Plains, recording 86 total tackles, including two for loss. It won’t have a significant effect on the room because his contributions to the linebacker rotation had started to decline.
