Braves, welcome back another very skilled player who has been injured on Friday.

Like much of Major League Baseball, the Atlanta Braves have struggled with injuries this season.

Braves Place Sean Murphy On Injured List Due To Oblique Injury - MLB Trade Rumors

In Atlanta’s season opener, All-Star catcher Sean Murphy suffered an oblique injury and is still out of the game. One prominent player who will miss the whole 2024 season due to surgery on his right elbow is starting pitcher Spencer Strider.

However, second baseman Ozzie Albies, who hasn’t played since last Tuesday due to a fractured toe, has been working out and may be reinstated as soon as he’s cleared to play this Friday. Atlanta might receive some reinforcements soon.

Before Tuesday’s game against the Miami Marlins, manager Brian Snitker spoke with the media and stated that Albies is a contender to make a comeback on Friday. Initially, it was thought that Albies would miss three weeks to a month due to the injury.

Following an on-field exercise on Monday, the second baseman appeared to move without limitation as he participated in complete batting practice.

Prior to his injury, Albies batted behind Ronald Acuña Jr. in all fifteen of the games he participated in.317/.386/.492 with 14 RBIs and two home runs.

He was struck by a pitch on his toe last Monday during the Houston Astros game, resulting in an injury. Though he felt some discomfort and soreness after the game, he managed to finish it.

However, x-rays and postgame medical examinations revealed that he had broken his big toe, and on Tuesday he was placed on the disabled list.

Luis Guillorme and David Fletcher have alternated at second base since Ozzie was placed on the disabled list. Fletcher was called up from AAA Gwinnett.
