Today’s deal to transfer LB from South Alabama sees “more than expected” at Auburn.
AUBURN, Alabama Transfer linebacker Khalil Jacobs of South Alabama was at Auburn this week for an official visit to see Hugh Freeze and the Tigers. He still has trips to Missouri and Alabama scheduled for the next week before making a choice.
Jacobs said everything about the trip went well, despite spending most of his time with Auburn DC and linebackers coach D.J. Durkin in addition to current Auburn linebacker Eugene Asante.
“The visit was pleasant,” Jacobs remarked. “Better than I anticipated before arriving at Auburn. unquestionably a wonderful area to visit and to be around.
It was actually the surroundings. The folks will make you feel at home since they adore you.
I was convinced by my coach, D.J. Durkin, that he had placed several players in the league.

Fit is the most important factor for Jacobs at a college, according to him. He has ties to both Missouri, where his former defensive coordinator is currently the head coach, and Alabama, where former South Alabama head coach Kane Wommack is now the defensive coordinator.
“I’m looking for the system I can fit in best so I can put my abilities on the field so I can be dominant,” he stated. “I feel like an outside linebacker (stinger), where I can play in space and blitz off the edge, but other institutions want me to play mike and be in the box. Really, anyplace I can demonstrate my abilities.”
In Durkin’s defense, Auburn is wooing him for that role. Asante is currently playing that position for the Tigers, and according to Jacobs, it seems like a perfect match for him.
About his role if he selected Auburn, Jacobs stated, “I would be able to come off the edge and guard running backs and tight ends.” “I think my strongest suit is that. That’s nice.
