Breaking News: Just In Veteran WR Announces His retirement from NFL Due To….

Despite breaking several records with the Panthers, Georgia State wide receiver Albert Wilson was not selected in the 2014 NFL Draft.

After signing with the Chiefs, he was able to make the team’s 53-man roster in his first season. According to Wilson’s Instagram, the 31-year-old has chosen to hang up his cleats after a successful ten years in the industry.

Wilson played in 12 games during his first campaign, starting two of them. In a receivers room that did not see any touchdowns from Alex Smith, the undrafted rookie finished second only to Dwayne Bowe in receptions (16) and yards (260).

All of his touchdowns went to tight ends Travis Kelce and Anthony Fasano, running backs Jamaal Charles, Joe McKnight, and Knile Davis, and full back Anthony Sherman.

Wilson continued to be Smith’s go-to wide receiver in the next seasons, finishing behind only Jeremy Maclin in 2015 and Tyreek Hill in 2017.

Wilson’s finest statistical seasons occurred in 2015 and 2017, when he caught 451 yards and two touchdowns and 554 yards and three touchdowns, respectively.

The Dolphins signed him to a three-year contract because of his outstanding play as their No. 2 receiver. Josh Rosen, Brock Osweiler, and Ryan Tannehill were Wilson’s receivers in Miami, where he was a part of a few offensive units that failed to impress.

Wilson joined with the Vikings in the 2022 offseason when his contract expired, but he was released after two months.

Later that season, in October, Wilson was added by the Raiders to their practice squad. Despite his flirtations with the active roster, he was never able to play in a Las Vegas game.

Wilson had 38 starts out of 89 appearances during his career. Along with a touchdown on the run and a throwing score, he had 218 catches for 2,499 yards and 12 touchdowns.

Wilson won’t be inducted into the Hall of Fame, but as an undrafted Georgia State player, he made the most of his chances and had a successful career.
