Following his divisive Benedictine College graduating speech, Harrison Butker has received support from a number of well-known people, including Chris Jones, a Chiefs teammate.

Chris Jones, a defensive lineman for the Kansas City Chiefs, has volunteered to stand up for kicker Harrison Butker in the wake of his divisive statement at Benedictine College.

If The Chiefs Sit Chris Jones, It Could Cost Him $1.25 Million

His statement was a direct response to a petition that at the time had accumulated close to 30,000 signatures calling for Butker to be fired from the Chiefs. Since then, the petition has garnered 220,000 signatures as of Monday afternoon.

Social media users praised Jones immediately for publicly endorsing Butker, who has come under fire for his speech’s promotion of conventional gender norms and sexist clichés. “Chris just gained 1,000,000,000 cool points,” said a user on X. One person said, “Stand up for your boy,” and another said, “You just showed amazing character and you are my new favorite Chiefs player.”

However, Gracie Hunt, the daughter of Chiefs chairman and CEO Clark Hunt, also expressed her support for Butker, so Jones is not the only one. In response to the three-time Super Bowl champion’s comments, she spoke with Fox News Channel’s “Fox and Friends.”

She said, “Well, I can only speak from my own experience, which is that I grew up with the most amazing mother who was able to stay at home and be with us.” And I recognize that a lot of women are unable to make that choice.

However, I know that it had a significant formative influence on my life and the identities of my siblings and myself.”

The Chiefs Heiress answered, “Yes, and I really respect Harrison and his Christian faith and what he’s accomplished on and off the field,” when asked if she could connect to what Butker was talking about.
